Posted - 08 June 2009 : 22:54:57 Hi, ive not actually made myself/been made bankrupt yet but was wondering if a creditor has not chased me for a debt for a number of years, does that mean its been written off by them ? i.e. can they chase me again years down the line? thanks Bill

Posted - 09 June 2009 : 08:11:28 If no contact at all between you and a creditor is 6yr&12yr for a mortage then there is a statue of barr and debts are writen off. However if creditor has issued a ccj on any previous address then the statue of barr is void. I aslo believe debts with DWP dot count

I'm pretty sure that if your creditors have not chased you for a debt, and you have not corresponded with them about in within the last six years, then they cannot claim the money back from you.
