Posted - 11 June 2009 : 15:29:12 if declared bankrpt the courts will take control of my assets 1) does this include my wifes savings accounts or other assets / 2) does it include joint accounts 3) does it include any money held by my children 4) should by wife appoint a solicitor to look after her interests ?

I'm no expert and I'm sure someone else will be along to help you, but as far as I'm aware, if it is only yourself who is going bankrupt and all debts are solely in your name, then your wife and children assets will not be touched. If however, you have joint debts and accounts with your wife and you declare bankruptcy yourself, then your wife will still be liable for any joint debts.
