My ex wife went bankrupt 2 years ago and I have repeatedly spoken to the Halifax and they have told me they can't remove her name from the mortgage until the arrears have been paid is this true? Also they told me she was still responsible for have the mortgage arrears and the join loan is this true as my ex wife is refusing to take her name off the deeds to the house even though I bought the house from her trustee

I think you will end up having to pay the arrears if her bankruptcy has failed to clear it as in a joint loan the other person becomes fully liable. I would imagine you can take your wife's name of the deeds without her consent if you have bought her beneficial interest, worth seeing a solicitor on that one.

Word of caution, if the finances haven't been officially sorted via a consnet order she could still have a claim on the house which is perhaps why she isn't taking her name of the deeds?
