Posted - 25 June 2009 : 14:43:45 Hello, My question to the forum is, I have a joint loan with my wife. This is a £20.000 unsecured loan, with a finance company. I will be taking bankruptcy. Will the finance company still persist in chasing after my wife, if they were to become aware, that she has no savings, no assets, no money, and is in receipt of government benefits? because of her ill health? Will she still need to go through a bankruptcy process too? thank you

On your bankruptcy, your wife becomes liable for all the joint debts, and they will chase her for payment. If she also declares bankruptcy then the debt will vest in both bankruptcies.
