creditors are not likely to make you bankrupt so really suggest you take control and if it is the right solution plan it and do it yourself.
The council will make people bankrupt but only if they own a house and therefore are likely to have equity. ( becoming more popular now)
the council will resort to bailiffs quickly so get that sorted out - even if it is only a token payment. Also your current years council tax will not get written off so beware
Posted - 07 July 2009 : 08:42:20 The problem with waiting for one of your creditors to make you BR is that it may not happen as it costs them more to make you BR than you pay if you do it yourself. While you are waiting you are at the mercy of your other creditors, so to be honest I would rather pay myself and get things moving.
Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

The council can get a court order for bailiffs to call, and you can tell them that you are going bankrupt. They may want to know a date though.
