Hi,

My husband is due to start a new job next week. We will have to send in a new I & E form, and to be honest with the cost of nursery and lost benefits, we aren't going to be much better off at all each month and will still have less than £99 surplus income each as we are both BR, but out of self respect he wants to work. My question is, my husbands new firm have said there will be overtime available some weeks but not others so he could do say 4 or 5 hours one week, 8 another and then none at all for 2 or 3 weeks. We just don't know till he is in the job and has sussed out how it all works for a few weeks. Do we have to tell the OR every time he does overtime as this could mean us submitting a new I & E every couple of weeks? Or how else would be go about this?

Thanks,

Poodle

The best way is to mention the situation to the OR as you have here. They may decide to take the average earnings over a couple of months and will base your monthly income on this figure. This is normally what happens with people who are self employed and earn varying amounts each month.
