Posted - 27 July 2009 : 10:08:00 Hi again everyone.
Does anyone have any words of comfort or wisdom for me;
At the end of this mnth it will be my 3rd mnth not paying my DMP. Apart from a few letters I havent had any hassle or grief, but then again I have moved. I was saving desperately towards the cost of the BR + some help from a company but my bad luck keeps getting in the way. I had to pay for some urgent car repairs last mnth and this mnth I have both tax and insurance due...so I keep delaying the BR as I dont have the money. Is there a time limit for how long I can save for BR? Sounds daft maybe....I am just so worried it may look like 'I am not trying anymore'..?! Which is not true at all! I also have to find money for my half of a holiday which was booked 9 mnths ago and cant be canx. All this means that I now predict I will have the money for october.
Does anyone have a similar experience..? I know my BR company will drop a line to all my creditors stating I have chosen to declare BR soon.
Please help

Posted - 27 July 2009 : 11:39:14 I went on holiday too, just before bankruptcy, we stay in a friend's apartment abroad and had paid for the flights on the credit card about 9 months before and still went, again, the OR did not mention it, whether he saw the credit card statement or not, I don't know, but even if we had cancelled, the money would not have been refunded so we went anyway. |

There's no problem with delaying your BR due to saving up. The worst that can happen is your creditors can declare you BR, which would save you the fee although most creditors see the debt on rather than making debtors BR.
Try not to worry about it. If you have moved then the creditors may not have your new address/phone number so this will save you the hassle of being bombarded with calls from them.
Hi gettingoutofdebt and Jane.I
Thank you so very much for replying. I really do feel so very much better now and not so worried. I did have a 'stomach feeling' that others out there have taken as long and longer to save for BR, but its even better to hear from direct experiences. I will keep saving as I am and I really just need to get past the car tax and insurance, and the holiday and then its 'clear sailing' for me. I have not told anyone about my move, not even my DMP so apart from a few re-directed letters in the post I havent been hassled at all.....altough I feel really guilty about it all....but on the other hand I just look forward to the day I actually go BR and start fresh.So I know there is an end to all of this.
I also feel quite guilty about my holiday. I havent had a holiday with my fiancee for over 6 years, so I am looking forward to the time off with him. I just feel guilty as it's probably 'uneccessary' expence in the OR's view..I'm guessing. Altough its not during my BR but before..if that's any difference...sigh..

Posted - 27 July 2009 : 10:39:32 We spent about 7/8 months trying to get the money together for our bankruptcies, in the end, as we still did not have the money, we just used our overdraft, bit naughty I know, but the OR did not say anything about it
