Hi Everyone, hope you are all well on this wet and windy evening (it is here anyway).

I have now got my court date in August (3 days before my 32nd birthday!!) and was just wondering about the OR interview.

1)When you first speak to them do they just tell you verbally what info they require for the full interview or will they send it in writing?

2) Are they specific about what they want or do they just say all financial info for 12 or 24 months

3) As I have already posted I took out a loan of £10500 in april to consolidate my credit card debt. The reason for this is that I was only making the minimum payments each month and was never going to pay them off. Thing is a large portion of these cc's were in my mums name ( I am second card holder and she doesn't use them at all). I didn't have any plans to go bankrupt at the time and didn't ever think i would need to. Due to a misunderstanding with my solictor and what my divorce court order said. Anyhow. I can show that for the last 2 - 3 years I have been making the payments onthe cards. But was just wondering will I need to provide these statements too. Its not a problem at all if I do, but I keep seeing warnings on this site about not offering too much information.

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

For me, giving up my house was so hard but the only and best thing for me to do. I am now in a lovely rented home. I see it as my "new life" and all people close to me have seen me as a new person, or rather as the old person I used to be before the people that helped get me in this mess came on the scene. Look forward to your new life and your brand new start. I, like you, am glad to pay my IPA because it is keeping me in check and what I aint got I cant spend. I wish you all the luck in the world and it sounds so much like you have the right attitude to get through all this and look forward to a wonderful future. Keep posting.

Thanks for your kind words Rosie. I have to say as bizare as this may sound the only thing that has kept me going with this is the fact that I will have to pay an IPA, I don't think I could do it if I just walked aways 'scott free' I know that sounds stupid, but I took on my debt in good faith and feel bad that it has ended this way. But if I didn't take BR I would have no future, according to CCCS 47 yrs to pay my debts lol. So as much as I am doing this with regret, I also feel very positive about it. I know that I will have up days and down days and that there is a long sometimes hard road ahead, but in the last 5 years I have had failed IVF, nervous breakdown, marriage breakdown, lost my house etc (I do realise others have had much worse) so what I am getting at, is that this could be a new beginning and that I am made of strong enough stuff to get through what is just another of lifes hurdles.

Glad you feel so much better after doing it. Its good to be able to sleep at night, can't wait for that to start again lol.

Best wishes

L

Hi Tinkie,
You will have the opportunity on the SOA to put reasons for debt and also will be able to discuss it with the OR. They will undoubtedly ask why a loan was taken out so recently but I also used credit cards not long before BR but simply to live, not to live the high life. The OR representatives are very understanding. It certainly does not sound like you were reckless and that circumstances beyond your control have got you to where you are. I am sure you will not be penalised for that. It sounds like you have lovely and supportive parents and that is a blessing. I am 46 and after an initial "telling off" from my aged father he has been nothing but supportive, good old soul that he is. It will be tough road for you but you have made massive steps in doing something about it. I have never felt better since I went BR in April. Not because I feel absolved of any debt because I do pay an IPA but the overwhelming release of stress and worry is golden. This site will offer so much support and advice. Keep posting and keep us in touch.
Best of luck
Rosie

Hi Frosie

Thanks so much for your reply. This is all so new to me.

Yes the consolidation loan was in my name only so no chance of that being passed over to my mum thank god. Her and my dad have been brill through my difficult times, been so stressful for them too. I feel really bad that I only took that loan out 5 months ago and will now go BR but, I had a court order from my divorce stating that because my x had left the house in such a bad condition that he would be liable for any shortfall in the joint debt. So I thought I was home and dry. Only to find out late june that he has done a flit and so this is effectively unenforcable, hence my having to go bankrupt. I feel awful but have no alternative. I think I am just worried I will be penalised for taking out a loan so recently and also for the fact that a large portion of it was used to consolidate what 'legally' was a joint debt

Well I suppose you live and learn.

Thanks again for your reply.

Hi Tinkie, What a lovely user name!
Happy 32nd for August.

1)When you first speak to them do they just tell you verbally what info they require for the full interview or will they send it in writing?

The Or wrote to me and asked me to send 12 months worth of Bank & Credit card Statements and 3 months of salary slips prior to arranged call.
2) Are they specific about what they want or do they just say all financial info for 12 or 24 months

As above

Is the consolidation loan in your name only? and are the credit cards now clear? I ask this, because as far as I am aware, and an expert will correct me if i am wrong, any debts if in joint names will be left with the non-bankrupt person responsible to pay. If the consolidation loan is only in your name then that will be included in BR. Sure an expert will advise on this query.

Good luck with it all.
Rosie
