I am brand new and came across the forum by accident.I have been discharged from bankruptcy for over 4 years. Anyway, I applied to 02 for one of their sim contract deals. It was only £9.79 a month, anyway filled out basic details and my bank details.
Now the address I filed for bankruptcy i moved from about 3 years ago. I know a lot of companies only check the last 3 years.
Anyway, within seconds it came back declined. The check was with Equifax, I've checked my files and the only credit check they did was my new home of 3 years, not the address with the bankruptcy registered to it
On the application you fill out, they don't ask you if you have been bankrupt, but do you think they may still request it from Equifax?
ie. Has this applicant been bankrupt in the last 5 years?

Not to be beaten, applied to T mobile and got accepted with a £15 deal for 350 mins They too checked with Equifax!

Thanks for replies, at my present address I have a well known catalogue of 2 years all up to date and a sub prime credit card! I don't pay them any interest though (Vanquis) Glad I got acceptrd for t mobile though. Strange this credit scoring!

Could be that you have no credit history at your new address, so giving you no credit score, which can be as bad if not worse than a bad credit history.

It may well be that they have checked further back than the three years. I know that O2 are fine if you are just upgrading a contract as they only check their own records.

Glad you got sorted with T Mobile though.
