Hi, l wondered if you could advise me on this matter, l became bankrupt on March 11 of this year, l am very happy not to have credit ever again and l am coping with the restriction of a bankrupt very well, however l will at some point in the future wish to purchase property, i.e a mortgage along with my partner, who is not bankrupt. included in my bankruptcy was my property which is waiting to be reposesed, what would l have to do to have a mortgage in the future for another property, by in the future l mean in the next five years.

Thanks and regards

the mortgage market is very difficult at the minute and it will take a few years to settle down to a reasonable level.

I am sure you will have mortgage opportunities however you would need to have a sensible deposit.

When mortgage companies look at offering mortgages they look at the lowest credit position in the application rather than the best.

It would probably be easier to be put onto a mortgage after the event rather than pay a higher interest rate because of your historical position

Not good news, I am afraid. I think you would be very unlikely to get one, and if you have ever had a property repossessed, you go on the Repossession Register and this will stop any chance of obtaining a mortgage again.
