Posted - 07 August 2009 : 17:13:47 I went bankrupt in July 2006 and was discharged in December 2006. My Income Payments Arrangement came to an end on 31 July 2009. I am renting a flat (from my parents) at the moment but I am worried about purchasing a property in the future. Will I be able to get a mortgage ever again? My partner owns his own property and we don't live together yet, but we may look to try purchase a property together in say 3 years' time. How difficult will my past make this? And when will I be able to start applying for a mortage (I have no desire to obtain any credit cards or other loans!). My partner knows about the bankrupcty but I don't want to let him down! Thanks very much.

There is nothing legally stopping you getting a mortgage and it will drop of your credit rating in another 3 years, but if they ask if you have ever been bankrupt then you will have to answer yes
