Posted - 10 September 2009 : 13:31:05 the debt i have for the housing/countil tax overpayment is for a previous property with a different authority to where i live now, so would it still be up to me to pay or can i write it as a debt? sorry am confused!

Council tax is a provable debt in bankruptcy, but not for the whole year, only up to the date you are declared bankrupt.
If you are still in receipt of housing benefit, they can deducted it from ongoing benefits.
