Posted - 22 September 2009 : 14:56:31 Hi
I am self employed and having problems with my car at the moment which I rely on. My uncle has offered to buy me a new car (good uncle hey). According to the insolvency register it says automatic discharge for me on 20th October 2009, which would be 12 months from my bankruptcy date. If my uncle gave me the money to buy this car after this date could the OR still claim it.
Do I get an official letter saying that I am discharged.

Posted - 22 September 2009 : 16:39:14 Thanks for that reply. I would advise them of any change in income/outgoing.
What kind of offer would normally be made to conclude an IPA? I currently pay £273 per month which started in April this year, my debit was £40K |

Posted - 22 September 2009 : 16:22:39 Hi as you are discharged then you are able to keep any windfall.
you should however advise the OR of a change in income / expenditure circumstance that would effect your IPA.
you may be able to make an offer to the OR to conclude your IPA early should you inherit funds

Posted - 22 September 2009 : 15:43:51 This is a good question! I have been discharged early, although I still have an income payment order until April 2012. What would happen if I was to come into some money? Which could be likely as I have an ill family member – would the OR take it? Can I have it in my current account or should I open a savings account?

Posted - 22 September 2009 : 15:27:46 Hi
after discharge you can do as you like so your uncle can give you funds for the new car without any comeback at all.
The OR usually sends out a letter confirming dischage when you are discharged early, otherwise it is an automatic procedure.
You can apply to the court for a discharge certificate - £60 ish - if you like
