I have received a letter to say I have been discharged early! 8th September 2009 instead of January 2010, is there anything I should do now? Anything that can help by credit file? Also which company is the best to use to check credit files?

Thanks

I would take my time doing it. There is no rush and you can make sure that everything is sorted properly by the end of the six years.

I was discharged at the end of May 2009 and set about 'cleaning up' my credit file in July. Take a look at http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=677875 which will give you some guidance and letter templates to use.

I now have just one creditor who is yet to update my credit file, but hope to get that updated soon. By cleaning it up now, I know that all the 'bad' information will definately drop off in 6 years from the date of my bankruptcy and there won't be any odd things lingering around after that.

Hi,

Even though you have been discharged early, your credit record will still be shot for the full six years.

No point worrying about that yet.
