Posted - 25 September 2009 : 21:11:01 I think what melanie was saying was that there is no legal objection to opening an account with any bank, just that some banks have personal preferences |

Posted - 25 September 2009 : 19:04:35 There is nothing wrong with selling or buying goods by ebay provided it is for personal/family use and not as a business. You do not need to disclose this to the OR as each amount/sale would be small. With regard to opening a bank account do this as soon as you can there is no need to wait until you hear again from the or - everyone should have access to their own account, a very good account which comes highly recommended by forum posters is the C0-Operative cash minder account, the Co-Op are very bankruptcy friendly - you can open a basic bank account with any bank though, provided you have no debt linked to that bank.

Posted - 25 September 2009 : 19:01:26 Hi,
As long as it is your own stuff that you are selling and you are not running a business on Ebay, then there shouldn't be a problem.
As to banks, HSBC won't touch you - they hate BR people. Barclays should be ok, but it won't be any different to the Co-op as far as I am aware. I'd stick with them.
