Would you be paying for the running costs of the car? tax, mot, petrol, maintenance, etc

The OR may not allow these costs if you are close to an IPA

Hi and welcome to the forum
if a friend bought a car for you to use whilst you are BR as long as there is a receipt for the car in the name of your friend and preferably proof of how it was paid for ie. statements, cash withdrawl. then there should be no problem, even if the car is registered in your name on the log book.
When the OR checks with DVLA he may raise the fact of the car but it may be more wise to mention it beforehand to the OR and then it would be less likely to become a problem
