Can someone please advise. I was a self employed courier when I went BK in March this year. Just prior to this I used to do a long distance regular run for another courier company and unfortunately for me his customer (a credit card processing centre)wanted credit checks carried out on all contractors. I already had a CCJ from several months earlier and knew I would fail the check and so I told my contact that I would not pass and he told me he could no longer use me. That cost me thousands. I have been informed I am to be discharged early. My question therefore is if I am discharged from BK then what are my chances of getting my job back as my contact is obviously going to have to run another check on me. I am so frustrated as I lost my job because of the check and now I have been made BK I feel like a criminal not knowing if I can get my job back. |

Posted - 11 October 2009 : 09:30:59 The creditors should update the credit file once you are discharged or at least within 28 days of discharge. If they don't then you can follow the process in the link to chase them up. |

Thanks for the advice. Do you have any idea after being discharged how long it takes before your credit file returns to satisfied or settled?
Thanks |

Posted - 10 October 2009 : 07:09:39 When you are discharged you can start to clean up your credit file following the instructions at http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?s=cb2f11b2c3b30cb86f39aa7acf342114&t=677875.
As this thread shows after cleaning up your credit file the debts that you had in your BR will change from 'Defaulted' to 'Satisfied' or 'Settled'. The thread also mentions:
quote: Your accounts will be marked as settled in the meantime, which ADDS to your credit score
I am not sure exactly how much it adds to your credit score or the criteria the courier company need for you to pass the credit check but after cleaning up the credit file you could apply for the job and see what happens. |
