Posted - 11 October 2009 : 11:50:56 As a general rule the OR no longer advertises debtors petitions unless the person has been trading - then there will always be an advert - your run of the mill household debt case will not longer be advertised.
Hopefully this will help many people who would not go doen the bankruptcy path purely because they could not bear the fact of it being in their local paper and people knowing etc -
One important thing to remember todays newspaper - tomorrows chip wrapper!

Posted - 11 October 2009 : 09:34:29 It's unlikely that your name will appear in the local papers as this is no longer part of the process since April but it is at the discretion of the OR.
There was a post earlier in the year when BRs would be advertised and the person requested that the judge stay the advert due to their job as a social worker. The judge agreed and I think they had to pay a £30 fee. |

Posted - 11 October 2009 : 09:14:40 The only way to ensure that your name is not posted anywhere is to get a stay of advertisment from the judge when you go bankrupt. Unless they receive one of these then the OR will proceed as they are legally required to. You would have to have a very good reason to get one, most of the time i have seen one is when the persons life may be in danger if someone knew where they were |

Generally not thses days.
It will appear in the Insolvency Register and the London Gazette
There was a post a week or so ago that they are mitigating situations when this may not happen - look back over the past week or so - unable to recal who it was that posted -.
Good luck anyway, Richard
