Posted - 14 October 2009 : 08:42:48 The BR will drop off your credit file 6 years from the date that you are made BR, not the date that you are discharged. If you have a restriction order or undertaking then I understand that this will remain on your CRF for the duration of the order.
If you are considering a managed bank account you need to make sure that the account offers full banking facilities, e.g. direct debits, as not all of them do.
Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

Posted - 14 October 2009 : 06:51:04 Just to correct Stu - the Bankruptcy stays on your credit file for 6 years from the date you declare BR, NOT from when you are discharged.
The managed accounts he is referring to are also one's which charge a monthly fee. Normal bank accounts don't.

Posted - 13 October 2009 : 22:25:10 Hi
Once your discharged, it remains on your credit file for at least 6 years, therefore you should in theory be able to open a basic account from a high street bank / building society.
Saying that, RBS Group and Nationwide wont allow an account to someone who owed them money before BR
Coop and Barclays are very bankruptcy friendly so they could be worth a try.
Abbey and Alliance and Leicester and HBOS will all ask for a letter or certificate of discharge for thier basic accounts, LloydsTSB is the same but they also ask for a copy of your recent experian or equifax report showing the discharge.
Coventry BS offer a savings account which carries a visa debit (not electron) card and online services they dont credit check,
Thinkbanking, cardone banking, extra direct, CredEcard and Clearcash all offer managed account services too
Best of Luck

Posted - 13 October 2009 : 20:32:49 Hi m88
Try the Co-op (Cashminder account) whilst you are BR.
They are the most BR friendly bank and yes, you wil have to tell them you are (or were) BR
Good luck, Richard
