Posted - 25 October 2009 : 08:13:22 Hi, a few months ago we had a pre payment meter fitted as we couldn't afford the £308 bill, and since then we have been paying an extra £6 a week for gas to clear this. I went bankrupt in August, and the other day i found out the gas had run out, so i put in £6. To my amazement the meter went up to £61.49. Had to phone British gas - they didn't know why it happened, and are sending someone to change the meter, as they thought it was faulty. Now yesterday i received a letter from them saying the OR had contacted them about my BR and they had cleared the debt. Last time i checked the meter,we owed £121, but the letter says £180 was cleared, so now it should last quite a while!! Didn't know they were going to do this, as it weren't down on my statement of affairs, and £6 a week extra is not much to pay! Just thought i'd say this, incase anyone else is paying back a bill by pre-payment meter. |
