Posted - 26 October 2009 : 16:31:11 Our appointment at the court was for 9.00a.m but due to restless night got up early and arrived just after 8.00 a.m. I was very suprised at the court since it looked just like being in any council office as there were booths with a counter. We were called to one of the counters at 8.50 which took me aback as I thought we would be called into a private office. There were lots of people there already and all were bankruptcy hearings. Our court doesn't normally open until 10.00 but due to the sharp rise in banruptcies they are opening at 9.00 to get through them. The clerk went through our forms very thoroughly and asked us to confirm a few details. We then affirmed our statement was true (rather than swear an oath on the bible). After that we paid over our £1,020 pounds and each note was scanned. My husband cracked a joke - telling them to be careful because the ink was still wet. I wasn't amused and gave him a kick under the table. The clerk then took us to wait outside the judges offices because he said we would need to see the judge. 10 minutes later the clerk came back and said the judge didn't need to see us and had stamped the bankruptcy order. We then went back to the counters and a few minutes later we were given our copy of the bankruptcy orders. After arriving home 30 minutes later we were called by a clerk at the OR's office. She went through our statement and then said we will be hearing from the OR to set a date for our interview which she thought would be over the phone. Hope all this helps - I can honestly say it wasn't anything like we thought it would be. Just want the OR interview over and done with now. If anyone can tell me what to expect I would be grateful. Posted - 26 October 2009 : 17:02:02 I rambled on so much earlier that I forgot to mention that the OR's clerk asked if we had recently opened any new bank accounts. I said we had opened one under advise at the co-op, inorder to get salary paid and direct debits set up. Because this was a current account with debit card and cheque book she said we needed to contact them today to open a new cashminder account and close the current account. I was so worried about doing this since my husbands salary gets paid in on Friday and was worried the account would be frozen. I realized I should speak to them today and not wait until Friday. They were brilliant!! They have opened our new cashminder today and any money or direct debits will automatically be transferred into our new account. She also said that our current account won't be closed until the cashminder is up and running!!! I love the co-op bank!!!! Katie |

Posted - 26 October 2009 : 16:38:32 Good luck Katie, glad everything went OK. Thanks for sharing your experience of BR, we do not go to court until late November and we are both terrified at the thought of it. It is posts like yours that help us to get through the mess we have put ourselves in,
