Hi guys

I went bank crupt in Feb and been discharged in Sept.

I just paid for my credit file and credit score. On there some of my accounts show as default and some say missed payments and others are still live. Also it states that i have not been made bankcrupt in the past six years.

Is there anyway I can clear up any discrepanceys etc? If this is what companys use for future credit etc then its untrue and inaccurate?

Also what can i do to improve my score and what sort of time scale would you look at to the score improving?

Have to admit that up until a couple of years ago we had payslips and statements going back about 20 years. We did have a mass shred though and we tend to keep about 12 months worth now.

Up until recently Dave had bank statements going back 30 odd years! I persuaded him that he didn't actually need them any more!

I've still got statements going back years, plus payslips and P60's!

I've still got copies of everything, including all the bank statements I sent to the OR!

I agree with Skippy that you should disassociate yourself from the joint accounts.

If you get a copy of your records from the credit reference agencies then it should give you account numbers on there.

There is no way I would shred old account stuff until I was sure everything was clear.

I shredded mine, all I kept was the bankruptcy order, I was so stressed and just wanted no reminders about it

Did you not keep a copy of your BR petition? If I remember rightly you have to list the account numbers on that.

If you have not got your old account numbers, I think you are stumped really.

I am in the same position, its over 2 years now since my bankruptcy, I got my credit files from all 3 agencies last year and ALL the accounts were still being defaulted on a monthly basis, and the bankruptcy and early discahrge dates were on

As I shredded all my old letters I have no account numbers and so have had nowhere to start to even begin cleaning them up so I have just left them be. I won't be applying for any credit again and do not want a mortgage ever again. If any debt collecting companies contact me, I will just send them a copy of my bankruptcy order.

I'm sorry, I don't know how you would work out the account number - hopefully someone else might have some ideas.

You can write to each of the credit agencies to disassociate yourself with your ex partner. I haven't had to do it so I'm not sure what it involves, but there might be some more information on the websites.

Thnaks for your help so far

I just looked again to see who the accounts are who i have to chase,

I have one for Barclays showing that I have missed 1 payment and outstanding £175 but unsure what the account number will be for this as I several single, joint, and several business accounts. I have looked on my bankcruptcy information and have no record of anything being £175 at the time of going bankcrupt?

Anyone got any ideas on how to work out what the accoutn number is so I can inform their data controler

I have listed the contact details for the credit agencies in my blog along with the template letter that I used.

Just to give you a list of the companies:

Call Credit, Experian and Equifax.

You need to contact them all.
