We have got a moving in date now for the rented property we have been waiting on.
We have gas and electric arrears at our mortgage address (which is being repossessed) and I know these can go into the BR but what happens with the new address?
Will there be a supplier already set up and we just switch to them (and hope its not the same company) or is it more complicated than that? we do have a bad credit rating but have not gone BR yet.

Also, can we stop paying the council tax when we move out or do we pay it up until the repo date

thanks for that, we should be able to afford the council tax, its just the gas/elec arrears we can't afford.

You can ask the rental agency or whomever you are renting the property from who the gas/electric company are.

Whether you pay the council tax up to the repo date or include it in the BR is up to you. If you genuinely cannot afford to pay it on your property then don't pay it but if it is just a case of not wanting to pay it them this may come up in the OR's investigations and will be frowned upon.
