Hi, can someone help answer my question please.
Up until now, my wife and I where planning to go BR together, but after some very last minute figure juggling and a small financial rescue offer by her parents, we think she can avoid going BR.
No such luck for me tho.
The only joint debt we have is our 132k mortgage, but house has just been valued at 90k so we are in negative equity.

If I decided to go bankrupt on my own, what would happen to my wife.
Would her income be affected?
If she could pay all the houshold bills including the mortgage on her salary would that be allowed?
I'm on JSA at the moment with income of £64pw.
What would happen to our house, and would we be expected to move out?

Thanks in advance.

If you declared BR and you wife didn't then the mortgage company would chase her for the mortgage repayments. If she could pay the mortgage then there wouldn't be a problem. She would just continue to pay the mortgage and any other bills (Council tax, utilities, etc.) and you would contribute what you could out of your JSA.
