Posted - 06 November 2009 : 12:53:52 I was discharged on 23rd October but had a letter to say that a new OR is dealing with my affairs.
The letter from the OR says: Will you please confirm within the next 21 days the source of the funds used to petition for your bankrupcy.
If the funds were supplied by a third party please supply their full name and address.
Thank you fo your assistance in this matter and would wish to advise you that this is not a matter of concern.
I was just wondering what the relevance of this letter is and if i said the money was paid by myself, could the OR do anything about it now.

Posted - 06 November 2009 : 23:02:05 The family member would not be a creditor if they "gifted" the money rather than lent it.
The reason the bankrupt pays for it is that it is common opinion that the tax payer should not pay for it which would be the alternative. The only bit the Tax payer pays for at the moment is the Further investigation bit (BRO process etc)as this is meant to protect the public.
There has been a big drive recently to reduce the costs of the bankruptcy. The deposit you pay at the court only pays for part of the costs and the people with assets that get realised pay for the rest of the partialy funded bankruptcies. There are more of these at the moment with no assets and so although the fees have gone up they have not coverd the rising costs of bankruptcies and that is whu you have things like reducing the local adverts and some of the easier cases not having interviews etc |

Reducing the fees would be a good thing. We go bankrupt because we have no money and yet we're expected to find £510 for the priviledge.
It's 2 1/2 years since I went BR, but it's gone up around £30 in that time, and no doubt it'll go up again next year.
Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

it is just market research.
They are trying to find out what percentage of people use credit cards to pay for the process or if family & friends support people.
Wouldn't be suprised if the figures of "used credit" are too high they might look to reduce the fees.

As RP states, this is just the OR compiling data on where funds are obtained by debtors to secure a BR petition. You will not need to worry.quote: Originally posted by Richard P

I think that their was a question on this similar matter posted on this forum within the last week
from the replies, i think that the consensus of thought was that it was the OR undertaking "market research"...
