I am a mature student, living as a council tennant with my partner and 2 dependant children. My only income is from the Student loans Co. (I have receive a loan and 2 grants) and I am currently waiting to hear about an application for Carers Allowance, as my partner is disabled receiving DLA Care Component (middle rate).
I am already in default to Capital One credit card, owing them £7000. I do not have any assets (ie a car, savings or property). Can I file for bankruptcy, and how much would it be likely to cost me?
Would I still be able to keep my student current account with the Halifax plc.
Thanks,
Lee

Hi and welcome to the forum
With only owing £7000 you would potentially be eligible for a DRO debt relief order, they are like a mini bankruptcy, handled by the CAB and a couple of other associations.
