Dear Sir, following my last question i.e. working abroad whilst being bankrupt in the UK, is there any difference in declaring Bankruptcy prior to or after moving overseas to work. I have a 12 month plus contract on offer to be Based in Kenya and travel to other African countries, currently I have tried all forms of debt mangement and have only worked for one month this year so things have got difficult, the easiest way seems declaring Bankruptcy and then going abroad to work. In addition to complicate matters further I may obtain some lucrative supply contracts for Afghanistan by Mar 2010, and if this occurs i will be able to negotiate full and final settlement with my creditors but until then Bankruptcy looks the best way. RevivaUK do a lot of work with people who have left the UK and are petitioning for BR here.
it involves a Lasting Power of Attorney and they can sort this out for you and attend the High Court for you saving you having to deal with the OR yourself apart from a phone call interview.
as long as you are seen to be cooperating with the OR you should be discharged in 12 months and IPAs depend on your income, if your employer is in a foreign country it is down to what you "honestly" declare to the OR in your forms when they enquire

JT if it does not affect the new job apply for Br before you leave, you then still have control of the situation.
If slightest chance of interferring with new job, get the job up and running, speak to Paul at reviva and get his team to arrange it for you

If you move to outside the eu then you can still petition for bankruptcy for 3 years after you move, There is no difference in how the bankruptcy is handled, but it easier to get everything sorted before you leave |

I am seeing good income from foreign contacts - overseas sometime and UK other.
I see good prospect of work In the new year - this may be your answer and you may be fortuniate to avoind BR - do some sums and let the Experts have the secenario -it could be stratforward to do and settle up without the agro and stress of BR (and it can be troublesome - ask others on the others!!!)
