Posted - 18 December 2009 : 14:41:33 Hello
Starting to panic now as have my court hearing on Tuesday 22nd next week, just before the court shuts for Christmas ...
I'd be grateful if anyone could take a look at my proposed income and expenditure figures below. These are as recommended by the CAB adviser at the High Court. Although from what I've read on this forum and Skippy's very useful blog, I'm worried that the housekeeping and others may be too high?
Rent: £625 Housekeeping: £250 (apparently £280 is the new maximum allowance for a single person, something the local CAB also confirmed ...) Electric: £133 Water/sewerage: £20 Telephone & mobile: £55 Train & tube fare to work (in London): £364 Clothing: £20 Council Tax (average over 10 months): £69 Meals for work: £40 Prescriptions: £7 Dentist: £15 Optician (and contact lenses): £15 Hair: £10 Social/Birthdays/Xmas: £5 Car Tax: £15 Petrol: £20 Car maintenance: £10 Dry cleaning: £10 TV License: £12
Total expenditure: £1,695 Total income: £1,500 (but income has been temporarily reduced from full time salary of £1,666 due to reduction in hours for me to attend a therapy group).
Do these figures look reasonable in light of other people's experiences? From what Melanie helpfully advised it's best to put down the reduced income figure, although this may go back up in a few months time if my group goes well.
Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated.

Posted - 18 December 2009 : 18:18:40 Thanks Skippy. Those figures are reasonably accurate I think. I usually have to buy a lot of ready meals/food on the go as I have to work long hours, have a long commute and usually don't get home until 9pm or later. Although I realise I'll have to try and do something about that next year ... |

Posted - 18 December 2009 : 16:41:40 Can I just say that rather than putting what the CAB recommend you should actually put what you spend, whether it's higher or lower than their recommendation.

Posted - 18 December 2009 : 16:12:48 Thanks for the suggestions Charlie44. I was rather uncertain about the high figure for the housekeeping (especially with meals at work listed too), but just went with what the 2 advisers said. Perhaps it varies on where you live and work, depending on regional cost of living??
I'm worried about the shortfall too ... hopefully my reduced salary will only be a temporary arrangement and I'll have to make big cuts until I'm able to go full time again. Plus my family have offered to help temporarily too and hoping the OR will understand all this ... |

I have made some suggestions, you will be lucky to get more than £200 for groceries for a single person, but no harm in asking. The only problem is the deficit in your I & E. How will you pay for everything with a shortfall of nearly £200?
