ask for a breakdown incase it is an error

Posted - 09 January 2010 : 13:40:08 Don't sign anything, and ask for a breakdown so you can see where the OR thinks the extra money has come from.
Was this from the RTLU? They seem to be tighter in their allowances than the original OR's office.
Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

Posted - 09 January 2010 : 12:24:45 This exact same thing happened to us.
I sent in the I&E for hubby for early discharge, (I was not working and we only had his income for 2 adults and 3 children)
We had £20 DI but the OR sent us an IPA for hubby for £52.
Hubby was all ready for signing it for an easy life but I said NO, we cannot afford it and I did not go bankrupt to struggle on for another 3 years, no way.
We requested a breakdown from the OR in WRITING but they were very reluctant to do this, but we insisted, they had cut some of our allowances and not allowed certain things like home contents insurance and optician costs. We had to send in all our bills and receipts for everything to prove what we spent and in the end we did not get an IPA and were discharged early.
I was prepared to be taken to court over this but for such a borderline amount, I knew the OR would not do this.
I agree that you need a WRITTEN breakdown to see where these figures have come from and then you can take it from there
If I had known it would have caused as much hassle and stress as it did, I would not have filled in the ED form, I would rather have had no IPA than be discharged early, but in the end we got both
