I've downloaded the forms for BR and the one thing it said is to open a basic current account. I hope I've chosen the right one..I was successful with a Co-Op Cashminder account. Took 15 mins on the phone and a quick run to the local branch to confirm ID.

I will have to say, the lady on the phone was wonderful and very helpful, so thank you Co-Op Bank!

You can't do a cashminder account online anyway. It's only available on the phone or in branch.

with coop

Do not complete account on line or at a branch as it will normally be referred to specialist department

i have found best to call them. as stated it takes 15 mins to do in person

COOP have also introduced an ISA bank account which is the next account up from cash minder, you must be BR discharged before eligible.. so an answer for those asking for savings account

Good Luck Richard,

Hi there,

I've had a cashminder account with the Cooperative Bank, which I set up 2 months before petitioning for bankruptcy and so far I have not had any problems with it. When I applied I did mention the fact that I was going to be bankrupt and the manager said that wasn't a problem with this account. You might want to check you are on the electoral roll though as I'm sure I have heard people being refused because they were not listed on this and I think it may be the only thing the coop check on for this account.

Well said dekcuf,
The Co-Op seem very fair in their treatment of BR's.
