Posted - 02 June 2009 : 12:20:20 My first post to the forum and so scared Im close to fainting!! Help.
Been religiously paying DMP for nearly 6 years and now decided enough is enough-bankruptcy has to be done before I loose the will to live. So-after many MANY calls to various experts/companies (which I am so grateful!) I have been advised to stop paying DMP and get money together for BR. Just stopped payments to DMP and Im scared stiff of what will happen!? Anyone out there with a similar experience? I should be able to afford the BR fee's after two missed DMP payments.....at the worst 3.
HELP!

You could be lucky and the creditors pay your fees for Bankruptcy, it doesnt happen often but it does happen.
I would ask your DMP Company when they wind up your DMP to inform your creditors that you are thinking of bankruptcy that way they may not contact you
Best of luck, and keep posting

Posted - 08 July 2009 : 18:14:52 Hi,
Filling in the forms can be relatively straightforward, but it is what you put down that is the important bit, particularly when it comes to income and expenditure and assets. You also need to write a detailed description for the reasons you arrived at this point and be very clear and honest as to where the money went. Remember you are one of many and it is just a process to go through.

Posted - 02 June 2009 : 15:49:58 Hi, It takes a few months for your creditors to do anything...so DON`T panic.. You would have gone BR by then.
A way to avoid the phone calls, is to change your contact details...easy done with internet banking, and fail the security questions!.
Best phone your local county court, to maybe book a date NOW, as these are busy times. You don`t want to save up the money, only to find that there is a waiting list.
Your amonst many friends here...and i know it all seems daunting...but it isn`t, all the advice you need, is here. |

Posted - 02 June 2009 : 12:40:30 Hi and welcome,
Don't worry, the worst that can happen is that the creditors will start phoning you again - you don't have to talk to them.
If you have decided that this is the way to go, then save the money (£510), fill the forms in here:
http://www.insolvency.gov.uk/doitonline/doitonlinemenu.htm
I would phone your local court to see if you need to make an appointment, as some of them do have a backlog at the moment. Any questions about filling in the form you can ask on here and there will always be someone around to help you.
The glimmer gets brighter all the time
