Thank you so very much for replies.
Still...is there really no-one out there who has gone through this and got through it without having to involve their partners/husbands/wifes..?

Follow answers:

1.We have lived together in same place for just over 11 years and Ive never been able to pay towards any repair bill or maintenance other that the usual rent, elect, heat and phone.
To be as brief as I can..if the OR asked for any money from the property I should just find somewhere else to live as my partner is aware of the debt (and also the BR)but not the entire amount...and also is not of the forgiving/understanding kind!!This is why I am beyond myself with sadness and worry!!
Would a face-to-face OR interview be better for me....any different?

No , my name is not on any mortgage now.
My name was on our previous (small)mortgage for about 1 year.
This is about 10-11 years ago.

Hi the OR will ask about the possibility of having an interest in the property, however in the above post you have just covered all the reasons why you dont. If they ask tell them what you have put here and you will be alright.

Hi debtinfo

So Sorry for late reply, but I have had problems seeing the 'last 250 post' page. Suddenly today it seems to work again and I noticed this post-thank you.

I have lived with my partner for over 10 years and he would argue that I haven't contributed much to the mortgage as my payments to him every month have been pretty small.
When we first had the mortgage in both names (now over 10 years ago) he paid the deposit..which I believe was quite substantial and the actual mortgage has only ever been very small. So I didn't contribute to this either.
I have also never (sadly) contributed to any repairs, maintenace or even furniture and and other contents...this is partly the reason why I feel like such a 'loser'.I only remember I actually paid half towards the stereo at some point...which was about £200...
All my debts are in my name only and are unsecured.
My car is in my name, but he could even prove that he paid for it.
I just want to spare my partner for my mistakes really, I would really rather spend time in jail if that was an option..?!At least youre guaranteed 3 meals a day and I hear they even have gyms and saunas's...hehe

Hi,

It is you that is BR and therefore the OR will not speak to partner. However, it is the house that is the complication in this. If it has equity in it then they will probably want 50% of it i.e. your share to put against your debts, this may then bring to light the amoutn owed to your partner.

You really do need to try and tell the amounts etc to your partner (understanding or not)as it will prob all come out in the 'house' process.

Even if you move out you will still by law have a 50% claim on any equity that is in the proprty since you co-habited in the house i.e. comon law wife / partner etc.

Hope that helps a littel.

A face-to-face interview or via the telephone won't make any difference to the actual interview. The OR will want to find out how/why you declared BR, go through your I&E and establish if you have any assets that can be sold to pay to your creditors.
