Hi

My husband has just left me and so now I am on my own with 2 kids. We were getting working tax credits but I have got to go on to Income Support. I am 39,000 in debt in my name. I have no way of paying my bills. Can I declare myself bankrupt without my proof of income support? Not sure how long it will take to receive any income support. I have no assets and am living with my parents. How long does it take to go bankrupt? I have flights that my sister has booked for me and the kids to go and stay in cyprus for 2 months at the end of November at her villa so the bankruptcy would need to be sorted by then. Is this possible? Please help. Any advice would be gratefully received.

Many thanks
EMma

It is best to have all your ducks in a row before going BR.

I have to ask why do you feel that you have to go BR before your holiday?

Do you have any assets at all i.e. a car and what value?

Were you or are you still a property owner?

How long have you been living at your current address?
