I have major concerns about our impending financial re-assessment after moving to Canada. Our salaries in the UK before we moved here were reasonable so incurred a monthly income payment, fair enough.
However the OR uses calculations from UK living statistics...... these are very different from the area of Canada that my husband has been relocated to. First concern that springs to mind is the heating allowances, our new home has to deal with temperatures -50 in the winter so I dont think the UK standard will fit! Not to mention the expensive protective winter clothes we will have to ensure our baby gets.
I would greatly appreciate any advice and hear experiences from other forum members.

Posted - 02 September 2009 : 21:57:46 The OR is quite experienced to expenses overseas. With explanations they will understand the unique local costs.
Hot or Cold countries usually have dramatic changes in Utility bills ( air con or heating ! ) Water, fuel, medical expenses, clothes, car insurance as a foreign national etc.
best bet is to get settled in, get a grip of the expenses and then drop the Or an email advising them of the change of circumstances and peculiar costs.
Not to mention the expensive protective winter clothes we will have to ensure our baby gets.
