Hi again,

Has anyone here used Manchester Court, just wondered how they got on?

Its a long way off yet but one of the long term worries for me is never being able to get going again. Lost my home through divorce etc and just rent now. Is it possible to get a mortgage again or do you have to wait 6 years? I have been in employment for 17 years with a steady salary, seen sites advertising for BR mortgages but wonder if its actually possible, does it make a difference going for it as a couple, depost etc?

Just focusing on the next couple of weeks really but this is something I worry about long term.

Thanks
Matt

I have taken debtors to Manchester CC for their bankruptcy hearings. It is a lovely new glass building with the bankruptcy offices on the 17th floor. The bankruptcy clerks are very professional and kind. You will however see a District Judge and have a short telephone conversation with the OR after you have seen the DJ and been made banrupt. Arrive early as it is a first come, first served basis for seeing the bankruptcy clerk. Depending on the number of debtors making themselves bankrupt on that day will depend on the length of time that you have to wait. Bank on 3 hours or thereabots.

You are unable to obtain credit whilst bankrupt but, once discharged, it is down to the financial institutions whether to lend you money on a mortgage. Banks, unfortunately, are not really lending to anyone at the moment but thing should change over the next few months.

Best of luck
