Hello,

I've just got a new job!! Hurrah!!
And I started today!!

They don't know I'm bankrupt as its none of their business and they haven't asked...

BUT today I was inducted into the company and given a Barclaycard Application form to fill out for a company card.

The details are £2500 limit and £180 single transaction.

If I fill this in, will I be refused? Will my new company find out about my Bankruptcy, as I would rather let them know myself and not look dishonest. Do I have to let anyone know as I'm not getting into debt- its someone elses money??

Please help as I don't want to mess up my new job!!

Hi Bear,

Your BR is public record information and you'll be on the insolvency register. Is there any reason why a BR would hinder your work? If not, I doubt you have anything to worry about (it may be worth making some discreet third-party enquiries with HR just to be sure!).

Hi Julian, I went bankrupt in January and have been claiming benefits since then, so I think I may not get a NT tax code. The OR has previously said thet they wouldn't write to my employer as its none of their business. If I do tell them they may get rid of me (I've only done 1 day)!
I would welcome anyones opinions of this subject. Julian, how else would they find out?

Regards

Bear

Hi Bear,

As it's a company credit card, it will be the company that is credit checked and not yourself. However, just in case, I would imform your new employer of your BR. How long ago did you go BR? The OR may want to write to them to confirm your NT tax code, so they are bound to find out sooner or later.
