Hello!

First time poster, would love some advice/help with the following:

Last week I requested an Experian credit report and discovered some discrepancies that I am not sure what to do with.

I was officially declared bankrupt in April 2009, and discharged in 2010. Both dates show on my credit report.

1 - I have found 3 of my creditors, which were named in my BR, are still showing outstanding amounts against me, should these not be shown as satisfied? Other creditors on my report that were included in my BR do show this. Is there a reason why these creditors haven't acknowledged the BR? Or are they being awkward?

2 - I checked out information on MoneyExpert.com (i think it was) and they offered a letter template, but it says to send them a copy of my BR and discharge notice as well. A discharge notice is going to cost me £60 which I just can't afford. As the discharge information is on my credit report already, can I just direct the creditors to this, to request them to remove the amounts?

3 - I have noticed that some car insurance companies have done credit searches on me, just from me applying for quotes! Does this affect my rating?

4 - I guess my final question is, the defaults stay on my report for 6 years from date of default as does the BR, is there any benefit to trying to clear these up, at expense and aggro for me, as I am still going to be financially handicapped until the 6 years is up?

Any help/advise or direction would be gratefully received.

:)

Hi Ben,

You need to write to the data controller for each creditor asking them to amend their records to settled/satisfied.

If you are a member of experian, they will do this for you so give them a call.

Yes, I've got car insurance quotes listed on mine, don't think it brings your credit score down though.
