Hi hopeful,

Unfortunately bankruptcy will remain on your credit files for 6 years from the date of your bankruptcy order.

In the meantime, you can check your credit files with Equifax, Experian and CallCredit and make sure any default dates are set to your bankruptcy date or earlier and all debts are showing as satisfied. Also that your bankruptcy shows discharged.

When the 6 years is up, your bankruptcy and debts will drop off your file.

Have a look at Skippys blog to restoring credit history.

You can also look at your credit file usually for a free trial period, rembering to cancel your subscription before the trial end, (unless you wish to keep subscribing).
