Afternoon everyone!
Thanks to everyone who has answered my previous questions... you are stars!
Unfortunately, I have another one...sorry! I have debts of nearly £45,000, but around £10,000 of that are credit card debts due to gambling. I know I will get a BRU/BRO, but I wondered if anyone had an idea as to how long the BRU/BRO might last. I have been so stupid and these gambling debts were built up in the space of 1 year. I have now realised my mistakes and attend Gamblers Anonymous meetings. I had never gambled until a year ago and I think it was an attempt to escape from depression I suffered after my dad died earlier this year. I know thats no excuse and I am not expecting the OR to be sympathetic about this, but I just wondered if anyone could tell me what to expect.

Hi John
I was going to say about the same, but as you pointed out there are no hard fast rules when it comes to the OR and gambling debts etc.
It will all be taken into account, the reasons you got into debt, etc etc but at the end of the day you must also show that you have learnt your lesson.
The OR's are not judges but obviously tehy do have some clout and the main thing would be to be honest and not hide things from them. I have always said we dont judge you for how you got into debt, be positive and try and focus on a new debt free future.

Hi
unfortunately it's impossible to guage, there are no hard and fast rules on gambling.
The amount, over how long and how soon will all have an impact but there are other things to take into consideration as well, not least of which is how your particular OR's office view these things.
I'm guessing around 5 years but don't quote me on that.
