I would like someone to respond to the above title of this posting. I am about to go into BR and have come across some very negative comments from people; mainly my husband. He says 'it's your fault so get yourself out of it' and ' Bankruptcy is the easy way out. Designed by 'rich' people to help other rich people'. Any comments? At this rate he won't be my husband for much longer. What would you say in return?

I came across the same negativity when going through Bankruptcy myself.

Your husband has told you to "get yourself out of it" and via Bankruptcy that's exactly what you are doing.

You need to do what you think is best for your situation, not what other people think you should or should not do.

I think you have made a good decision which takes a lot of courage so well done.

Good Luck

For people who do not care about the fact that they have incurred debts that they cannot repay, then bankruptcy is generally a very easy way to leave the debts behind. But for most people who have a moral sense of responsibility to their creditors, but cannot pay due to changed circumstances, it is far from easy. Just depends on how you feel about things really.

For an informal chat about any financial difficulties, or advice as to the options available, I can be contacted via my website - www.melaniegiles.com

Hi zchr1,

It always those that have had things handed to them on a plate or never had to worry about financial worries themselves who have the most to say about Bankruptcy.

I wish they could live under the pressure for just one day and see what it's like.

I went BR last year and I've had the comments about how 'jammy' I am and how I got off lightly. While BR is nowhere near as bad I thought it would be, I wouldn't describe it as easy, especially if you have assets that you may lose.

I was lucky in that my partner was very supportive and went with me to court and I'm so sorry that your husband isn't being like this. We all make mistakes and it takes courage to face to those mistakes and deal with them.

Good luck x

As someone in the same position as you- BR is not easy, its the most difficult decision I have had to make for a long time....and you are "getting yourself out of it"
I am dreading other people finding out, especially my family, but BR has got to be better than what I have now. You'll get lots of support from the members of this forum. Good luck!
