rob has just phoned and it has been done. He has spoken to the or who is going to phone him later this week. He is going to send paperwork for rob to fill in with regards to kleeneze that we used to do, he is phoneing barclays who are not a creditor and telling them then it is up to them if rob can keep his account. The inland revenue will apparently be sending forms to fill in. Finally, the or said that rob may or may not need a telephone meeting or he may be asked for a face to face one.
So just wait and see I am still really shakey but i guess we are half way there.
He has a bit of paper with a number on it and i can only assume this is his br number.
Rob has also been asked to write to his creditors and notifying them and if he has problems to tell them to write to the or.
thanks for you time and support

Hi Jayne

If Rob has no luck with Barclays the get hm to try Co-op. If they say No, and they have done to a few people on the forum, then the last bank to try is Think Banking. They will guarentee him an account. I couldnt get an account any where and filled n the online call back form and had an account opened within 2 hours of filling the form in.

Can I just say that Nationwide unfortunately no longer accept undischarged bankrupts. The only banks that will accept undischarged bankrupts now are the Co-op and Barclays.

I also heard the other day that they are turning away people who have been discharged.

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

Good luck to rob.

The OR examiner will call him in about two weeks and you should get a letter confirming the details of what is required in the telephone call. It went smoothly with the OR examiner in my telephone call a few weeks ago. It is important to be clear about any assets or owings. About 8 weeks after the bankruptcy order the OR will inform the creditors assuming there is no reason to act very quickly, like to secure any asset.

You say Rob is banking with Barclays. They have a basic account which is BR friendly, so if they won't let him keep the account he has with them they might let him switch to the basic account.

Also, he could apply for a Coop Cashminder a/c (comes with Visa electron facility) or a Nationwide basic account (no logos on it).

Hi Jayne
I was told by the OR they would contact all my creditors, banks etc as well.
It is a scary time but its nice to know that there are other people who have been in the same situation and understand how you feel.
Hope it all goes well

I'm glad it went well Jayne.

I didn't have to write to my creditors, I was told the OR would do that. I waited until they contacted me and then told them I was BR and if necessary I sent them a copy of the BR order.
