Hi
I am going to court for my bankruptcy on Thursday and am trying to fill in the forms today.
I have a mobile phone contract and I need to know what do I put down as the amount owed?
What I mean is do I put down just the missed payments as what I owe or do I have to calculate how much is left on the contract to pay?
Also do I have to give back the free phone I got with it too?
Thanks
Maxine x

Hi Longnose
Wow! Well today is THE day, I have been awake all night but I have now started to get myself ready to go had a quick look on here and saw your post, and I feel ok, I will try and hold my head up highas you did and hopefully I will have a similar outcome as I too have no assets.
Thanks to everyone on here that has tried to put my mind at rest and keep me calm.
I will return on here when I get home, as long as they dont lock me up and throw away the key!! LOL

HI maxine, great to hear you are feeling upbeat about tommorrow.I can't better the wise words offered here but i can recount a little of my experiences with the OR today. After three years of worry and increasing desperation i declared myself bankrupt on the 20th of last month and today i had my interview with the OR.I spent last night checking and re-checking the associated information i had to take[bank statements/credit aggrements etc -you will get a list, when the OR contacts you],and questioning my living expenses.I had a fearful image of the OR and by time i entered the OR office i was convinced he/she would pack me off to a debtors prison, throw my children into a workhouse and my wife into a brothel.Happily my fears were unfounded ,instead my OR was sympathtic, non-judgemental and only concerned with the facts of my bankruptcy.Perhaps i was simple case(fairly low income/3 dependents/no assets] but after i honestly explained the causes of my bankruptcy he informed me that he does not expect any contribution from my monthly disposable income of £89 and after checking my income in 3 months time he intends to release me from my bankuptcy at the earliest oppertunity.
He went to great lengths to explain to me that i should feel no shame in going bankupt and instead look upon the whole process as a release from my debts and a new start.I know its all daunting but its a doddle maxine, walk into the court tommorrow with your head high and just be honest with all those concerned.
GOOD LUCK ,its going to be ok

Hi Everyone,
Ok this morning I plucked up courage to ring N-Power about them coming to my flat this Friday to cut me off.
After all the good advice from you all!
So i spoke to a guy named David and he said dont worry it is not that simple it takes quite a long time to actually come to cut you off!
He said to ring him on Thursday when I get back from court with my bankruptcy number so he can put the info on my account.
He also said if anyone does turn up on Friday just show them you bankruptcy details and that will be the end of it!
Phew I am glad I have taken the first step with all the good advice and support from the good people on this forum!
So a BIG BIG thank you to you all I hope Thursday will go as smoothly!

Hi Maxine,

Automatic discharge occurs at 12 month. However, you usually receive an early discharge questionnaire after 6 months. Currently, it is not uncommon to be dischrged in 6-8 months.

Hi Julian
Ok that sounds like a fortune at the moment!!!
I will make changes accordingly so that I have less than £100, thanks again.
Also do they tell you at your interview how long it will be before they discharge you?
