Discharged and cleaning up credit file. How does this work for joint debts when there is only one bankrupt party? I have 3 joint debts that i listed on my bankruptcy petition, I'm currently discharged and filing for divorce. I don't believe my ex is paying any of the debts he is liable for. How do the accounts/records become settled? My gut feeling thinks they won't become settled until he pays them but i am hoping there is a solution...

Thanks

So in effect, the defaults will not drop off my file after the 6 years if he has not paid off the debts.
I was just wondering if it was worth asking the joint creditors to update my credit file information.
Is this where credit file disassociation comes into play, not quite got my head around that one.

Thanks

If there were joint debts included in the BR then on your credit file they should show as defaulted and the creditors should be chasing your ex for the debt.

You can clean up your credit file by following the instructions at http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=677875
