Hello All,

We are currently in the process of looking into rental property before going BR. We have looked around, and apart from relocating from the city, the prices are around £850.

If between us, we earn approx £3375 a month, would the OR see this as a high price to be paying for a property rented, even though the property would be bigger than what we currently have, and £430 cheaper than our mortgage, secured loan and ground rent that we pay now? There are just the two of us, and its a three bed property.

Thanks guys

Hi Darren,

The interesting fact is that your rent could be £5000 a month and the OR has no power to question this or force you into a cheaper rental.

I am sure that the OR will agree that this is a reasonable rental, especially if you have shopped around and done your research.

For an informal chat about any financial difficulties, or advice as to the options available, I can be contacted via my website - www.melaniegiles.com
