My partner is in around £6000 worth of sebt between 5 businesses. Hes been sittibg in then for quite a while now. Hes self employed so we have very little money as it is. Im worried at what steps we need to take. Declaring bankruptcy would make it all go away however we don't have the initial fee to pay it.

Advice from any company will go through all the options available and can at least start the ball rolling for the OP.

Well surely any sensible free advice would include ( I would hope) working out a payment plan with the company(s) it's owed too. Surely that has got to be better than going BR? It's £700 to go BR anyway some will take that as a part payment - they nay even reduce the debt down in an offer who knows. One of my creditors wrote to me 2 days after I had gone BR saying my debt was being cut from 10K to 1K if I paid in 7 days. These are the ones who tried to chase me via a DCA last week.. In the end they lost out on everything because they refused to allow me to do a Repayment Plan. But not all are like that.

I always agree - getting advice from anyone and everyone who will offer it for free it worth doing.

It may be but advice can be sought from various companies for free initially.

oh I agree Skippy I am SE now and it worry me too. But surely for that amount dealing with the company direct if possible would be better?

£6K is a lot of money to some people and I know how unsettling it can be if you are self employed and in debt.

The more I have to do with humans the more I think that the world would be a better place if it was run by animals.

Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010. I'm proof that you can go BR and come out the other side.

It all depends on circumstances, especially as several companies are involved.

If I had 6000 I would never have gone BR

Hi and welcome.

As Viki says, take some advice. Initially it is free.

I am sure that something can be sorted out for such a small amount of debt.

Hi Samantha, i would look at other options for £6000 debt.

I advise you speak to an expert for some advice.
