I had concerns about a Visa debt I had put down to gambling which was in fact a car purchase. It was a genuine mistake, when you have gambled 150K (going BR for 55K), what got spent where is a blur.

Well I wrote to the examiner today because I had to send off some HMRC forms. In the letter I stated that the on-line gambling statements I couldnt provide to the OR, I could in fact get on-line. I then provided my gambling account number in case they need to contact them directly. I stated that in looking through the 2006 statements I couldnt see any transactions from a Visa card which i had listed as a gambling debt. I said that this Visa transaction was likely to be a car purchased in 2005 which was sold in 2006 when we received a use of my wifes late fathers car. I apologised for the genuine mistake.

I feel better, but hope I haven't opened a can of worms.

Thanks, at least I have come clean.

I wouldnt worry its an easy mistake and mistakes about where money has been spent are quite common within the OR's office. Suzanne who is one of the experts on here will probably know better but i wouldnt think it was a problem, after all, you have just wrote and told him.
