i am thinking of aplying for bankruptcy as i cannot afford to pay my debts and live accordingly i am continually being hounded by creditors and i just cannot manage anymore. if i was to go bankrupt will someone come to my home and remove my possetions and what will they take? does it clear old council tax and housing benefit overpayment bills? does it cost more to make a joint claim?

Hi Phunkster

welcome to the forum , your plight unfortuantly is becoming more common< i have gone through the process still under BR but feeling a lot better.

No someone will not come to your house unless you have rembrandt pictures and lots of valuables in the house. allowances for everything

Council tax yes, housing benefit Overpayment depends on circumstances

£450 BR fees plus £150 court fees redemption available for certain cases.

You cant make a joint claim both have to pay the fees

Phunkster you appear at the very early stages of BR, by your typing you may have many hundreds of questions. Fear of the unknown may be worrying you ? i would suggest contacting one of the experts to the left, most of them allow the first phone call for free, I found conversation with proffessionals in the business was very reassuring

I used Paul and his team at reviva and strongly recomend them to all.

good luck regards Richard
