I went BR on Friday Just gone, I had a quick interview with the OR today and have to have a longer one next week, When they asked about my bank account they said as it has no O/D facility they are happy for me to keep the account as long as Natwest agree, I have called NatWest and they said as I only have their basic step account I can keep my accout.

Hi there.
What can I say except lucky you.
I have been with NatWest since 2004 with their Step Account and had it closed on the 2nd April this month.
All I got from them was 'NatWest does not want your business' and all because I had numerous letters inviting me to use an overdraft and upon applying for the account upgrade to a current account I had ALL my accounts closed (Step Savings & Mini ISA)
I have been trying for 3 weeks to open a new account and have ended up with an account with Think Banking who have helped me out of one hole.
All the best with NatWest for the future, just don't catch them on a bad day |

It really is hit or miss - I historically placed NatWest as the most likely to close an account on bankruptcy - However this year I have seen a number of accounts being allowed to continue
All the best Alan

Storm, you could try opening a BR friendly account with Barclays cash card account, Coop cashminder account or Nationwide basic account. They will welcome you with open arms. |
