Welcome! Im on benefits and about to go BR. The fee is £495 but if you take proof of your JSA with you to court you will get the £150 court fee taken off leaving you £345 to pay. Im sure this is correct, hang around an expert will put it straight if not!!
Hi h41 I went bankrupt at the Royal Courts of Justice in the strand which is the main court for London. You do not need an appointment you just turn up on the day of your choice and pay the fee which must be cash.
I am on incapacity benefit which for some strange reason did not give me an automatic exemption from the £165 court fee.
If you download the EX160 and EX160a forms below you will find you qualify via the section covering annual income as if your total income is less then £10.000 for a single person you will get the £165.00 court cost refunded.
You must take with you a bank statement showing your benefit going in and you must have a letter from the Job centre / DWP dated within tne last 30 days to prove that you still get this benefit.
