Hi all,

time is flying, i went bankrupt august 2011, discharged a year later and my life is stress free. I have no credit and i dont want it either. I have 2 jobs now so if i want something, i can just buy it. I work hard to support myself, its tireing but im happy that i can afford things if i want them, although my experience over the last few years has taught me if you cant afford or dont need dont buy.

I keep an eye on my credit file but i didnt bother to get any debts still marked as defaulted, satisfied or my ccj marked as satisfied either. I thought it best to leave alone.

My question is, does the 6 years when bankruptcy, debts and ccj fall off my credit file include the year of bankruptcy or 6 years after discharge?
Thanks anna

Hi - glad you are doing well.

The br etc will fall off six years after the date of the original order. Just keep an eye on your files. Did you print off a copy of your discharge letter? You may need it if any of your creditors haven't updated the record.

Hi Anna,

Even with credit it's not so bad. I built up a limit with Vanquis of £3500 and I am now on a Barclaycard with a 5K limit. I've been discharged just over 2 years ao i am half way through my 6 year period.

Like you i agree it's nice to just buy something outright.

I still have not bothered with any credit - prefer to pay for things up front or save up for them now. Hubby has a credit card but we don't use it.
